Meet Michael Brauninger, an 18-year-old senior at Beverly High School. Michael is an enthusiastic STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) scholar, planning to continue with a degree in biomedical engineering. Michael has chosen the Commonwealth College at UMass Amherst to continue his education.

At Beverly High School, Michael received the Award for Academic Excellence in Honors Biology. He received the Coach’s Award for winter track during his junior year and the Panther award at the end of his senior year. He recently received the John and Abigail Adams scholarship. Michael also received district 6 DECA awards for second place in both 2017 and 2018, and third place in 2016. Michael is also a member of the National Honor Society.

Michael has participated in both baseball and winter track for all 4 years at BHS. Michael is a left-handed pitcher for the varsity baseball team and has played in the New England Elite Baseball League since 2013. Last season, he played on the Vikings Baseball U-17 tournament team. Michael is a captain on the winter track team, where his favorite events are the 50-meter dash and the 4×400 meter relay.

Michael is committed to community service. He is very involved with the Best Buddies program at Beverly High School and Beverly BootStraps food pantry and social service agency. Michael also umpires for the Beverly Little League.

Michael hopes to attain a degree in biomedical engineering. It is his desire to draw on his biomedical engineering studies to develop state-of-the-art, impactful solutions to health issues which people currently
have no effective means of combating.
